Westline Funding vs Rapid Finance

Two direct funders, similar products, different fits. Where each wins, with worked examples.

Rapid Finance has been funding small businesses since 2005 and offers merchant cash advances and small business loans up to $1 million. Like Westline, they're a direct funder — meaning they underwrite and fund from their own balance sheet rather than shopping deals to third parties. The two companies overlap on product, but the eligibility, speed, and pricing details differ in ways that matter.

Here's the honest comparison.

Where Rapid Finance Wins

  • Younger businesses. Rapid Finance accepts 3-month-old businesses. Westline minimum is 6 months. If you're 3-5 months in and need capital, Rapid is your option.
  • Lower revenue floor. Rapid takes $5K/mo minimum revenue. Westline requires $15K/mo. If your business is doing $8K-$14K/mo, Rapid will look at you and Westline won't.

Where Westline Wins

  • No origination fees. Rapid charges up to 2.5% on origination. On a $50K advance, that's $1,250 added cost upfront. Westline charges nothing on origination — the factor rate is the full disclosed cost.
  • Lower FICO floor. Rapid requires 550. Westline funds 520s and lower routinely with strong cash flow.
  • Larger advance amounts. Westline goes to $2M, Rapid caps at $1M.
  • No credit pull at qualification. Rapid does a soft pull during application. Westline does no pull at any stage.

A Worked Example

Construction contractor: $50K/month in revenue, 535 FICO, 7 months in business, needs $40K to front materials on a contract.

Rapid Finance: 535 FICO is below their 550 minimum. Likely declined. If approved at the edge, expect a 1.40 factor rate plus 2.5% origination = $40,000 × 1.40 = $56,000 + $1,000 origination = $57,000 total cost.

Westline: Approved on cash flow. $40,000 advance at 1.30 factor rate ($52,000 total, no origination). Funded in 24 hours.

Difference: $5,000 lower total cost at Westline plus 24-hour funding. The contractor takes the contract.

The Bottom Line

Rapid Finance is a legitimate direct funder and a solid option for very young businesses (3-6 months) or those with lower monthly revenue. For most established small businesses with 6+ months and $15K+/month in revenue, Westline lands lower-cost terms with no origination fee and a lower FICO floor.

If we're a fit, apply with Westline. If you're too young or too small for our minimums, Rapid Finance is the right next stop.
